reserves and Black Robin viewing
(This day to Pitt Island is highly dependent on the weather and sea
conditions, if for some reason we are unable to
make the crossing an alternative day will be organised on the Chatham
Is)

Day 3:Waitangi return
DOC Visitor Centre and Nursery
Big Bush Quarry limestone
Basalt columns in Ohira Bay
Whangaroa Bay and Port Hutt
Maunganui, a prominent hill of submarine volcanics and Stone Cottage
Maunganui; pillow lavasand limestone
Accommodation at Waitangi
Day 4:Waitangi return
Awamata Creek observe basalt lava flows on south west coast and Rekohu
Ash
West side of Te Whanga Lagoon: look at the relationship of limestone
units
also petroglyphs and karst sink-hole topography
Accommodation at Waitangi
Day 5:Waitangi return
Te Whanga Limestone, Motarata Limestone, younger shellbeds of Titirangi
Sand,
Ocean Mail Reserve, dendroglyphs and schist near the Kaingaroa
settlement
Accommodation at Waitangi
Day 6:Waitangi - return to Wellington Airport
& farewell
Red Bluff Tuff formation and transfer to airport
Return flight to Wellington

Please be careful
on some coastal exposures - waves can be large and unpredictable. WATCH OUT FOR LARGE WAVES THAT COULD
SWEEP YOU OFF THE ROCKS. PLEASE ALSO WATCH OUT FOR SEALS AND DO NOT GET
BETWEEN SEALS AND THEIR PUPS OR BETWEEN SEALS AND THE WATER.
